Between 1989 and 2004 ther Welsh channel S4C commisioned animation to Russian studio's later also expanding to other, often east european, studio's After a pilot in 1989 at Soyuzmultfilm, Christmas 1989 a joint venture was started called Christmas films, at first with the Soyuzmultfilm studios as base, who realised most of the commisioned work. The animationwork was initiated by Christophere Grace, based on the notion that animation could be voiced lin several languages. Stereophonic broadcast emissions made it possible to realise duo language emissions using one channel for Welsh voices and the other for English voices, so one could choose which channel to listen to.
The animated tales ran for 3 seasons and was an S4C initiated international production. Each participating TV channel produced 1 fairy tale of 12 1/2 minutes for the first 6 episodes, produced in 1999, commisioned to Christmas films for the later films to a broader selectioin of studio's. The animation later were put to DVD as educastional material for use to talk about cultural differences and also languages. Thje 3th serie in 2004, wasn't published on British DVD's anymore , only in the US as educational meterial, each animation on a separate DVD. Difficulty for my presentation is that youtube only permits 1 language channel. So all will be in english language I am afraid. The total series is 39 episodes the channel they were on (347 eus) is deleted by youtube I have no idea why, so I will carefully introduce the series to my main channel for the coming months in the hope it will not lead to trouble.Watch dailymotion.com/eus347/1 for newest modernday Russian animation & animations blocked by youtube.
